Ingredients
Scale
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
2 tablespoons sriracha (adjust to your spice preference)
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
Pat the shrimp completely dry using paper towels. This helps achieve crispiness.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Toss the dried shrimp in the flour mixture until lightly coated. Shake off any excess flour.
Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
Place the coated shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Spray the tops of the shrimp lightly with cooking spray or oil.
Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping the shrimp halfway through, until the shrimp are pink and crispy.
While the shrimp cooks, prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, rice vinegar, and garlic powder until smooth.
Place the cooked, crispy shrimp in a large bowl. Pour the prepared Bang Bang sauce over the shrimp and gently toss until every piece is coated.
Serve immediately over rice, in tacos, or as an appetizer with lettuce cups.
Notes
For extra crispiness, you can lightly spray the coated shrimp with cooking oil before placing them in the air fryer.
If you prefer a thinner sauce consistency, add 1 teaspoon of water to the sauce mixture.
You can substitute Greek yogurt for half of the mayonnaise for a lower-fat sauce option.
