Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless pork shoulder
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 16 slider buns
  • For the Apple Slaw:
  • 2 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded red cabbage
  • 1 apple, cored and julienned
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a slow cooker, combine the pork shoulder, barbecue sauce, 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds.
  4. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker with the sauce and mix well.
  5. While the pork is cooking, prepare the apple slaw. In a large bowl, combine the shredded green cabbage, shredded red cabbage, and julienned apple.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, and sugar. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Pour the dressing over the cabbage and apple mixture and toss to combine.
  8. To assemble the sliders, lightly toast the slider buns.
  9. Spoon a generous amount of pulled pork onto the bottom half of each bun.
  10. Top the pulled pork with a portion of the apple slaw.
  11. Place the top half of the bun on the slaw.
  12. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For an extra smoky flavor, you can grill or smoke the pork shoulder before slow cooking.
  • Adjust the sweetness and tanginess of the barbecue sauce and slaw dressing to your preference.
  • You can substitute other types of apples for the julienned apple in the slaw.
  • This pulled pork can be made ahead of time and reheated.
