This is the classic, savory recipe for homemade Chex Party Mix, baked in the oven for maximum crunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 cups Chex cereal (a mix of Corn, Rice, and Wheat works well)
  • 1 cup mixed nuts (pecans, almonds, or peanuts)
  • 1 cup pretzel twists
  • 1 cup bagel chips or rye chips
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a very large bowl, combine the Chex cereal, nuts, pretzels, and bagel chips. Set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder, dill weed, and pepper. Whisk until combined.
  4. Pour the butter mixture evenly over the cereal mixture. Gently stir until all pieces are lightly coated.
  5. Spread the coated mixture onto two large, rimmed baking sheets in a single layer.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, stir the mixture on the sheets, and return to the oven.
  7. Bake for another 15 minutes, stirring once halfway through the second baking period.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the mix cool completely on the baking sheets before serving. The mix will crisp up as it cools.

Notes

  • You can substitute butter with margarine if you prefer.
  • For a spicier mix, add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the butter mixture.
  • Store cooled mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
