Ingredients
Scale
4 English Muffins, split in half
1/2 cup Pizza Sauce or Marinara Sauce
1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1 tablespoon Olive Oil (optional, for crispier bottoms)
Toppings of your choice (e.g., pepperoni, cooked sausage, sliced mushrooms, bell peppers)
Instructions
Preheat your chosen cooking appliance. For the oven, preheat to 400°F (200°C). For the air fryer, set to 375°F (190°C). If using a toaster oven, set to the bake or toast setting appropriate for melting cheese.
If desired, brush the cut sides of the English muffins lightly with olive oil for extra crispiness.
Place the muffin halves cut-side up on a baking sheet or directly into the air fryer basket/toaster oven tray.
Spoon about 1 to 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce onto each muffin half, spreading it evenly to the edges.
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce.
Add your desired toppings over the cheese. Keep toppings light, especially when using a toaster oven or air fryer.
Cook using your preferred method: Oven: Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are lightly browned. Air Fryer: Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, checking frequently to prevent burning. Toaster Oven: Cook for 4 to 6 minutes until cheese melts.
Remove carefully from the heat source. Let cool for one minute before serving.
Notes
For a crispier crust, toast the muffin halves plain for 2 minutes before adding sauce and toppings.
This recipe is freezer friendly. Assemble completely, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and foil, and freeze for up to one month. Bake from frozen at 400°F (200°C) for about 12-15 minutes.
Customize your cheese blend by adding Parmesan or Provolone with the Mozzarella.
