Make a quick, creamy garlic aioli using mayonnaise as a base. This sauce works well as a dip for fries or a spread for sandwiches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup good quality mayonnaise
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced very fine or grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the minced garlic, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper into a small bowl.
  2. Add the mayonnaise to the bowl.
  3. Whisk all ingredients together until the mixture is completely smooth and uniform in color.
  4. Taste the aioli and adjust salt or lemon juice if needed.
  5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to combine.

Notes

  • For a stronger garlic flavor, let the minced garlic sit in the lemon juice for five minutes before mixing with the mayonnaise.
  • You can substitute the lemon juice with white wine vinegar for a slightly different tang.
  • Store leftover aioli in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
