You will love this easy recipe for roasted green beans tossed with garlic and Parmesan cheese. This preparation makes fresh green beans flavorful and crisp, perfect for a weeknight side dish or a Thanksgiving favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Place the trimmed green beans on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat them evenly.
  3. Add the minced garlic, salt, and pepper to the beans. Toss again until the seasonings distribute across all the beans.
  4. Spread the green beans into a single layer on the baking sheet. Do not overcrowd the pan; use two sheets if necessary to ensure they roast instead of steam.
  5. Roast for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the beans are tender-crisp and slightly browned at the edges.
  6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Immediately sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the hot green beans. Toss gently to melt the cheese slightly onto the beans.
  7. Serve your flavorful green beans right away.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can roast the beans for 5 minutes before adding the garlic and oil mixture.
  • If you prefer a Southern Style Green Beans flavor, replace the Parmesan with 2 slices of crumbled cooked bacon during the last minute of cooking.
  • This recipe works well for meal prep; store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
