Prepare simple, elegant baked goat cheese bites drizzled with honey and topped with toasted walnuts. These are perfect sweet and savory appetizers for parties or wine nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz soft goat cheese log
  • 2 tablespoons honey, plus extra for drizzling
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • Optional: Crackers or small toasts for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the goat cheese log into 12 equal rounds. Place the rounds on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a small, dry skillet over medium heat, toast the chopped walnuts for 3 to 5 minutes until fragrant. Watch them closely to prevent burning. Remove from heat.
  4. Sprinkle the toasted walnuts and fresh thyme leaves evenly over the goat cheese rounds.
  5. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is slightly softened and warm throughout.
  6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Immediately drizzle the remaining honey over the warm cheese bites. Add a small pinch of black pepper to each.
  7. Serve warm immediately with crackers or small toasts, or let cool slightly before serving as finger food.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, substitute the plain honey with hot honey for the final drizzle.
  • You can assemble the cheese rounds with nuts ahead of time and refrigerate them for up to 4 hours before baking.
  • If you prefer a puff pastry base, wrap each cheese round in a small square of thawed puff pastry before baking.
