Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large bell peppers, halved and seeded
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the halved bell peppers in a baking dish.
  3. In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  4. Add the chopped onion and sliced mushrooms to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
  5. Stir in the minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and oregano. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Cook for 1-2 minutes more until fragrant.
  7. Spoon the beef and vegetable mixture evenly into the bell pepper halves.
  8. Top each stuffed pepper with two slices of provolone cheese.
  9. Cover the baking dish with foil.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes to lightly brown the cheese.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the beef mixture.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like green peppers or jalapeños.
  • If you don’t have provolone, Swiss or mozzarella cheese also works well.
