Make this simple, hot, and cheesy dip using sausage and cream cheese. It is perfect for parties or game days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes and green chilies (Rotel), drained (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain off any excess grease completely.
  2. Return the cooked sausage to the skillet. Reduce the heat to low.
  3. Add the softened cream cheese to the sausage. Stir constantly until the cream cheese melts and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. If using, stir in the drained diced tomatoes and green chilies. Heat through for 2 minutes.
  5. Serve warm with tortilla chips, crackers, or vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • For a slow cooker version, combine all ingredients in a small slow cooker. Cook on low for 2 hours or on high for 1 hour, stirring halfway through.
  • You can substitute cheddar cheese for some of the cream cheese for a sharper flavor.
  • Use breakfast sausage for a breakfast sausage dip variation.
