Cook a moist and tender turkey breast using your slow cooker. This easy, set-it-and-forget-it method prevents dryness, making it perfect for weeknight dinners or holiday meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (3 to 4 pound) boneless turkey breast, skin on or off
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels. Rub the entire surface with olive oil.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, and garlic powder. Rub this seasoning mixture evenly over the turkey breast.
  3. Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of your slow cooker.
  4. Place the seasoned turkey breast into the slow cooker, placing it on top of the broth.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours, or on HIGH for 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Cooking time depends on the size of the breast.
  6. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. The internal temperature should read 165 degrees Fahrenheit in the thickest part.
  7. Remove the turkey breast from the slow cooker and let it rest on a cutting board, loosely covered with foil, for 15 minutes before slicing.
  8. If you desire gravy, strain the cooking liquid into a saucepan and thicken with a cornstarch slurry (2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 3 tablespoons cold water). Simmer until thickened.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add sliced onions or carrots beneath the turkey in the slow cooker.
  • If you prefer crispy skin, remove the turkey breast for the last 20 minutes of cooking and place it under a preheated broiler, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • This recipe works well for turkey breast meal prep; slice the cooked meat and store it in airtight containers for up to four days.
