Make a rich, creamy, and dairy-free chocolate mousse using avocado for a healthy, decadent dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened plant milk (almond or soy)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a food processor or high-speed blender.
  2. Add the cocoa powder, maple syrup, plant milk, vanilla extract, and salt to the food processor.
  3. Blend the ingredients until completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed to ensure no avocado chunks remain.
  4. Taste the mixture and add more sweetener or cocoa powder if you prefer a stronger flavor.
  5. Divide the mousse into small serving dishes or ramekins.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the mousse to firm up before serving.

Notes

  • Use very ripe avocados for the best, creamiest texture.
  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
  • If you do not have a food processor, you can use a powerful blender, but you may need to add a tablespoon more plant milk.
